When did you have a nursing strike?

I think my baby is going through a nursing strike.

She normally feeds great from the breast all night but the last 2 nights and during the day too, she refuses to take the breast. She pushes it away and cries if I try and put it towards her mouth.

She's 9 months old.

I'm feeling a bit stressed and it's adding to it just want to know that I'm not alone and want to know at what age did it happen/how long did it last and what did you to do rectify it?

Thanks everyone. :)

My DS2 did this a couple of months ago when he was 12 months old. I think he was unsettled as was teething with molars and I'd just gone back to work. Lasted about 3 days. I was advised to do lots of skin to skin and it worked! I also expressed morning and evening to keep my supply up. Good luck, it's so stressful, I was in tears about it.

I've been so close to tears it's unreal. :(

But don't want to unsettle/upset her.

Definitely going to be doing lots of skin to skin, pumping and bath time together which she loves.

Good luck, come back and tell us how you get on.

No luck yet though :)

DD1 had one when she was 8 months. It lasted for 5 days. I did lots of skin to skin, kept expressing and tried to catch her when she was sleepy. The evening of the 5th day she latched on and it was all sorted - the one good thing that happened on 9/11, as it happened.

Just keep trying, it's horribly stressful but she will go back on and your supply picks back up in no time.

Me too, at about 10 months. I got really upset and it lasted about a week! Someone suggested I have a candlelit bath with him, which I did. Might be coincidence but he then started nursing again with gusto.
