Breast thrush

I am 99.9% sure I have breast thrush. Nips are pink, sore, with flakey tips (this is love imagery, right?), it's agony to feed DD, she's a bit fussy, although she looks clear of it, and I have pain in my breasts between feeds and during.

I have daktarin - is there anything else I need? What should I be doing? DD is 1, so only feeding twice a day now, so as of yesterday I fed her, washed nips, and put on the daktarin, so application twice a day.

Is this enough?

I am so so sore, so help is appreciated.

GO IMMEDIATELY TO SEE A GOOD GP

I think they will give you an antibiotic or something. Just go.

Air dry your nipples. Hot wash everything that comes into contact with your boobs. Sit about topless as much as possible. Both of you will need treatment even if she doesn't show symptoms. Take probiotics. You can't treat thrush with antibiotic but that's what might have given you it. The doc can give you diflucan but they're never very keen to do that without a positive diagnosis so a swab is a good idea. The breastfeeding network have a very comprehensive leaflet about it. If you Google it you should find it. Check your latch as that's what they'll ask about first.

It's the worst pain ever. I thought I was going to throw up every time I fed or thought about feeding. Like red hot lead in my boobs. Hope you feel better soon.
