Breast Milk & Periods

Hi,

my DS is 10weeks & ebf. Yesterday & this morning he's been less interested in feeding. Not worryingly so as he's happy in himself and taking some feeds but is just off & on and generally seems less interested. He's even turned his nose up a couple of times! Rude! :)

He's a big boy and usually gobbles at any opportunity. My boobs feel really full so I know he's taking less than normal.

My period started today despite exclusively bfeeding. I've heard before the hormones can effect my milk? Could this be the cause?

Over the last few days I've been pumping & freezing to stock up for a night where I'm away next month. Will I have to dump this milk?? I'm worried if I leave him with this expressed milk he won't take it.

Tia for any advice x

Yes he'll take it. My periods started after DD stopped feeding so much, but as so a s the next growth spurt came along she was guzzling away again.

Thanks JenBehavingBadly. He seems to be feeding like normal now. Just worried the milk I've frozen will taste different to him & he'll refuse the bottle when I'm away. Might express some more just in case.

I had read that the hormones just before you start your period can cause a dip in supply which could make baby fussy, this certainly seemed to be the case for me. Dd was ebf and my periods came back at six weeks. Could always predict when I was coming on cos she'd be really fussy for a day or two. She'd soon settle down though. Can't vouch for the taste of the milk but yes, I read that too.
