How much formula milk at 8 weeks

My baby is formula fed, 8 weeks old and currently weighs about 10lb (6lb8 at birth). I've recently started monitoring how much milk she drinks as she doesn't seem to be taking the recommended 25oz per day according to her age and weight. She tends to have only 18-20oz per day and although I make up 5oz bottles rarely drinks more than 3oz.

I suppose I just want to know if this is something I should be concerned about, she has been gaining weight steadily but often seems unsettled due to trapped wind and colic, so maybe this is affecting her appetite?

Thanks in advance for any advice, I'm a very anxious first time mum and need reassurance that this is ok! Smile

If she's gaining weight and has plenty of wet and dirty nappies then I personally wouldn't be worried. Do you wind her in the middle of feeds? If not then maybe give that a try to see if it eases her discomfort.

Hi thanks for reply, yeah always wind halfway through feeds, use gripe water and infacol for the colic. She has plenty of wet and dirty nappies and is gaining weight nicely so I will try to stop over thinking it, maybe her appetite just isn't that big? Hv doesn't seem to be concerned anyway.

My 10 week old has never taken the recommended amount - he is now only just taking 150ml and that's not at every feed. The formula box says he should be on 180ml!

He is growing and putting on weight so I would not stress it - it's only a guide and every baby has different needs!
