Baby smelling milk?

I am starting to think LO who is 6 weeks old smells milk on me and feeds when she isn't really hungry. It seems whenever she is near me and not sleeping she wants food. However, if I give her to DH to hold when she's been rooting for milk from me she is fine and not crying out for food.

It's starting to get to me as just feel all she wants from me is food whereas DH can do some more fun things with her and get nice cuddles.

Anything u can do to stop this?

Yes she will smell milk on you, DS could smell me from about six feet away. It can be draining when it seems that all they want from you is milk, but that's part of their survival instinct, never turn down the chance to feed. It does decrease though, over time, so hang in there!

It is completely normal and isn't a bad thing. At this early stage she is also feeding a lot to get your supply up to make sure you have a strong supply to help her grow. I know it is draining but you just have to go with the flow and I promise it gets a lot easier as she wants it less often and also becomes faster.

Although you feel like your DH has more fun with her he couldn't go for long before she was crying for her mummy and some milk!

Take that time to relax. Sit on the sofa with a book, the tv remote, your phone, glass of water and some nice chocs or something and try to chill out and rest.

My HV also said that if I needed a break, I should give her to DH where she won't smell my milk and will go longer between feeds once in a while. So I guess your observation is correct. But i also second above post. Nature has it all figured out...
