So we were admitted yesterday afternoon for possible reflux and being observed. 4 wk(adjusted 2)DD had temp spike this morning so she's had blood, urine and lumbar today.
They are now investigating the possibility of an infection and the reflux has taken a back seat. No problems there, but I'm now feeding her for 5 minutes every hour.
She is hysterical when ptb ,shaking her head etc. when she does latch she feeds fitfully and still throws it all back up. Not just posseting but raw milk and fluid. If things don't improve she'll have a feeding tube but should I try formula just to see if she keeps it down?
Really at my whits end and want her well and fighting fit. She's ebf since birth.
TIA

Poor you, what a tough time for you all.

Can you express any milk to try and bottle feed?

Maybe you could pop along to the maternity ward to ask a midwife for some advice? Even if your baby was not born there I am sure they would be helpful.

As long as the doctors are happy with her levels of hydration and wet nappies I am sure she will be fine whilst they look into any other issues. Are you getting the help and support you need? From good, decent, regular food to some sleep etc etc.

Tube feeding is fine, both mine were tube fed for a while as they were 3 and 5 weeks early and too knackered and little to feed. It helped feed them, calm them and then they could sleep, feed much better without it being a frantic, vomit fest. They both went on to still breastfeed after being tube fed.

I hope you get sorted soon and please post back with any other questions and let us know who you are both doing!

Thanks.pumping now! She's so discontent with feeding I hope the tube works. I'll try and nip up to the mat ward as she was born in the hospital we are in.
