Ouch! My 13mo is biting. Time to stop bfing?

My nipple is actually bleeding. It's happening at nearly every feed. I don't know if I can keep going. Would it be too severe to go cold turkey? She's a real booby monster and I think it would be traumatic, especially as she has refused all milk alternatives so far. I really wanted to continue bfing until she was ready to stop but this is getting too painful and stressful for me.

Ouch! My DS went through a phase of doing this which coincided with teething. Whenever he bit I would take him off the boob, tell him no and then try again. He seemed to figure out pretty quickly not to do it. Would it be worth trying a similar tactic if you want to carry on breastfeeding?

I've been trying that, but it's hard to guess when she's going to bite. It tends to be at the end of the feed. She clamps her teeth shut and pulls away shredding my poor nipples! It does seem to be when she's teething, but it's been going on for a couple of weeks. I know I shouldn't feel guilty about wanting to stop bfing, but I do. It's also not the way I imagined stopping.
