I'm a soother

Ds is nearly 6 months and bf, he gets a bottle once/twice a day depending on what I'm doing, anyways we co sleep most of the night (wasn't part of the plan and don't like it but only way I can get some
Sleep) but it's gotten to the stage I think I am just a soother most of the night, he now wakes about every 1/2 hour for a little suck, it's headwrecking, have tried putting him back in cot but he is having none of it, I think I'm ready to call it a day just don't want to make a decision I'll regret later! Don't even know what I'm asking really, anyway to stop being a soother ( btw he won't take a soother, tried them all)

Hello, I'm in the same boat with my 5mo. At least I'm still off work. Currently he's having a nap, on the boob. If I take him off he'll wake and cry, which is what happened this morning leading to a 30min screamathon, so I'm going with it for now. He's also fed bf and ff mix.

Food on tap, comfort, warmth - I can see why he's behaving this way and why he'd resist attempts to change it. I'm hoping it's just another phase that he'll grow out of.

Tonight I'm going to try making the room warmer, as I think being placed in his cold cot wakes him.

Just trying to think about it from his point of view helps. Good luck.

Elizabeth Pantley's book The No Cry Sleep Solution has some suggestions about creating other sleep associations.

Am in similar boat myself but in the middle of the night the quickest thing is to boob DD. Smile

That's it, it is the quickest solution but it's just gettig more and more often that he's waking for it, I'll have a look at that book thanks
