Breastfeeding and pregnant - in a lot of pain

Just looking to see if anyone has had this or know what it might be. I'm 5 weeks with dc3 and still bf ds2.who is 2.2.One of my nipples is so so painful. It feels like it's raw or cracked but there's nothing to see at all. Maybe slightly red but that's all.

I tried not feeding from that side for a couple of days, it felt a bit better so I fed him again. Felt ok at the time then half an hour later started to get really bad again.

That was two days ago, not fed since then and not engorged at all but even sorer.
Hmm. Reading this back I think I need to see a doctor! Feeling pretty ropey but that could just be pregnancy.
Anyone had this before?

Yes I had exactly the same and it was very painful I thought it maybe thrush. But since having baby and feeding being fine (by ds1&ds2) it's completely disappeared. I thought he weaned himself whilst I was pregnant as went down at 3 months to feeding every week or so, but since ds2 he has definatly increased. This maybe the same for you, I didn't find anything apart from lanolin cream helping and very short feeds!

Thanks Lion. Hadn't thought of thrush. There's no chance of feeding at all at the moment - it got so bad yesterday the only relief was paracetamol and a lettuce leaf in my vest! I couldn't even go to work like this it's so painful. Call to nhs direct today. Thanks for responding.
