Ok, I know there are a lot of threads on thrush and I'm sorry if this has been answered but I need a bit of advice as to whether this is thrush.
DS is 10½weeks old and we haven't had any problems with bfing till now. 2 days ago I noticed a little blister type thing on my left nipple. It was slightly sore to latch him on but after let-down, it was fine. This blister has since 'burst' and is now like a little cut. It is extremely sore to feed him - like stabbing/shooting pains which continue for about 10/20mins after feeding. I dread using that side as I know it is going to hurt and I quite often just put him on there for a couple of mins then swap him to the other side which is completely pain free.
So, questions... Could this be thrush? Is it unusual to just have it in 1 boob? Could it just be a cut from a bad latch-on and it will heal in a few days? Is the fact that I'm dreading the feed making me tense which is making pain worse? Is it all in my mind?
Also, if it is thrush, do I have to see a doctor? Can a pharmacist prescribe something through that pharmacy/prescription scheme (can't remember the name)?
I have never suffered from thrush in my life but I have been reading about it and now I'm a bit scared that I do have it...
Lastly, as I am only feeding for a few mins at a time on the sore side, will it effect supply on that side? Once pain is fixed and I go back to normal feeding, will supply go back to normal quite quickly.
TIA
