I was given a prescription for ibuprofen when discharged from hospital after my c section, so I can only assume it's fine. They knew I was breastfeeding....

No they're wrong, don't worry.

They're wrong. Ibuprofen is the recommended painkiller whilst breastfeeding. Paracetamol is ok too, aspirin best avoided unless prescribed.

They're wrong. I went to boots to get ibuprofen on the advice of the senior bf advisor at the hospital and was told I couldn't have it.

It was only when I made her look up the BNF that she would sell me it. I think it's a combination of overcautious prescribing and confusing pregnancy and bf advice.

They did same to me. But then did sell it me but told me it could be dangerous. I kept saying to check as she was wrong. And she said it was my call if I wanted to go against her academic qualifications or something. Knobber.

She came out reading to me from some piece of paper, I argued it n she insisted...also made sure I was aware I couldn't use it in gel form either....slightly annoying when professionals r giving wrong info tho!!

I have just been re-prescribed it post c section as I had run out. The GP checked their manual, apparently only a negligible amount goes into the breastmilk, so it is fine to use whilst breastfeeding. Bloody good thing as I am not functional without pain relief yet.
