Gaining enough weight? EBF

My baby is 9 weeks old. She was almost 10lb at birth and was on (I believe) the 98th centile. She didn't lose any of her birth weight like most babies do, she weighed more at 10 days then she did at birth.

She is happy, healthy, alert, chubby, lots of wet and poohy nappies, feeds well etc.

I had her weighed last week and she's dropped down to around the 90th centile. Should I be worried? I didn't even consider it at first but now I've thought about it should they stay roughly on the same centile or is it different when they were bigger than average to begin with?

Thanks for any help. X

Your baby's pattern is 100 per cent normal for babies born at the top end of the chart - you are describing healthy 'catch down' growth where babies head for a closer-to-average size as they get older.

The clinic should have explained this to you, but as they made no comment you can be pretty sure there is nothing at all worrying about her weight :)
