My friend has had two bouts of mastitis in the 5 weeks since her lo was born. is there any reason why some people get mastitis more than others? Anyone got any tips that I can pass on both for her to cope with it and to prevent it? TIA

Apart from creams & stuff I heard that a savoy cabbage leaf in each bra cup works. I'm not taking the mick, truly! Don't know if it does though

I've heard that works too. Any ideas on prevention though?

mastitis and blocked ducts from this link: "As with almost all breastfeeding problems, a poor latch, and thus, poor draining of the breast sets up the situation where mastitis is more likely to occur." maybe have her latch looked at?

positioning i think is very important.

make sure your friend is not slouching whilst feeding her baby, she could try lying down on the bed to feed, different positions, cushions to help her keep her back upright, etc

also i think its important not to stop feeding when mastitis happens, feed as normal
