insomnia as baby drops bf

I'm wondering whether this is possible... Can mums get sleep problems when baby drops breastfeeds, especially at night?
Dd is 8 months, voraciously self-feeding solids and ebf before that. She varies her bfs but til a week ago was generally having one at waking, midmorning, mid afternoon, bedtime and midnight-ish.
In the last week she's mostly dropped the night feed and also managed without the midmorning (which had been on and off for a/while). Following a bug on Wednesday I've really struggled to sleep, and one night was awake til 7am while dd happily slept through the night for the second only time. Mega galling!

Could the insomnia be hormonal as/she drops/feeds? Any thoughts or advice welcome, thanks, I am shattered and need to drop off!

I'm not surprised although really sorry for you. I remember reading that the act of breastfeeding does release "sleepy" chemicals in the Mum so your body may be missing them and you're probably also used to being woken up in the night. The No Cry Sleep Solution has a chapter on sleep problems for mum once baby is sleeping better which might help.

Thank you mama, I have that book somewhere from my first baby era, I'll have a look! I've been dropping off more easily this week but of course dd has decided to start waking twice a night...not fair!
