Help half my boob is blocked!

The left side of my left boob is completely blocked. I've just had mastitis on this side & was ill for all of Christmas with it so really could do without it again.

I started feeling uncomfortable yesterday evening so have been feeding ds on that side, hand expressing & massaging but it's just getting worse & more painful to the point I've now gone & taken ibruprofen. I've also had a milk blister on this side for ages which has intermittently caused blockages in the area I've now got one but I've checked & milk is coming out from there.

Please help, I've got a stinking cold too & am thoroughly fed up with it all now.

Hi there. Poor you, that is so painful! Okay, I have had this on a number of occasions and only worked out how to alleviate the pain with DC5!

Firstly take some antiinflammatories eg nuerofen these will reduce the inflammation (my GP was happy for me to continue BF whilst on these) then put as hot water as you can bear in a nappy. Then wrap the nappy carefully around your breast ensuring the sore area is well covered. At first this will hurt - but the relief is amazing! I used to then express from the breast with nappy still in place and massage affected area.

Hope this gives some relief.

Thanks for the reply, at 4.30 this morning I was raiding our medicine cabinet for ibruprofen just to be able to sleep. Had a ridiculously hot shower first thing & expressed & massaged it for a good 25 minutes there. The heat definitely helped relieve it. Feels much better than it did but still very tender & lumpy.
