To pump or to sleep? That is the question...

My LO is 5MO and sleeps on average between 10-12 hours at night, she's a little star. I, however, have suffered with just about every breastfeeding issue in the book, including a nasty abscess. So for the past 3+ months I have been waking up at 4am to pump on the advice of the breast consultant. I am noticing now that if DD drains the breasts at the last feed at night, my breasts are full, but not uncomfortable in the morning, so I am tempted to ditch the 4am alarm and sleep(!).

Any advice welcomed! I obviously don't want to risk any mastitis/ abscess reoccurrences. And in an ideal world I would like to wind down bf anyway... Help! I'm in a right pickle! Confused

how much are you pumping at 4am? id suggest reducing the amount you pump over say 3or4 day's rather then going cold turkey mainly due to your history

Also if you are wanting to stop drop a feed a week again you don't want to risk recurrent mastitis.

Sleep.

migGril I used to pump about 180ml (to use in the daytime), but now only about 80-100ml (which I mix with formula now in the daytime).
