11 weeks old - refusing feeds

My 11 week old DS is ff, and has been refusing his feeds. Until a week ago he was gusseling 210ml (7oz) feeds 5 times a day. Now, after rooting and demanding a feed, he will take 2 to 3oz if we're lucky, and will then point blank refuse the bottle.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, any ideas WHY and what I can do to help?

We have visited the GP today, who was as clueless as we are, and we have a follow up tomorrow.

A few things that may/may not be relevant.... He has a tongue tie (hence not establishing bf....), is otherwise happy and bright in himself, not loosing weight as of yet....

Thank you.... I'm feeling so worried!! xxxx

Did the GP check his ears and throat?

faster teat?

Mine wouldn't eat when she had a cold, (because she couldn't drink and breathe, with a blocked nose). Took me a while to work out the problem.

Yes she checked his ears and throat.... All seemed fine.

We upgraded to a faster year about 3 weeks ago, and he seems to get on well with it.

Just returned from the GP again, with a prescription for gaviscon to try and rule out silent reflux. She is going to call the children's hospital for a second opinion, and said that if it weren't 'bronchitis season' she'd send us up there.

Fingers crossed it is silent reflux and the gaviscon does some good....
