I gave birth six weeks ago, am EBF and my period has started. Is this normal? I'll see my doctor tomorrow but am gutted as I thought this was one of the perks of bf.

It's within the normal range, sorry

TwoThreeFourSix · 22/12/2013 10:38

Totally normal. Mine came back really quickly too.

Ohhnoooo · 22/12/2013 10:39

It is? I had an ELCS so have started to worry that it may be something more sinister... Especially as I was still bleeding with lochia a week ago.

But I am crampy and feel exactly like I have my period..... :(

I had a period pretty early on but then had a 7 month gap between them. When they did come back after the gap they were a lot lighter and painless until I gave up bf at 16 months. There might be hope yet!

same thing happened to me...twice

CitrusyOne · 22/12/2013 21:37

I had EMCS and the same happened to me. EBF, on demand, 3 or 4 night feeds and every couple of hours in the day. Period at 6 weeks. Back on the pill at 8wk check.

kd73 · 22/12/2013 21:38

I had a period at about 6 weeks, lighter than normal. Next one arrived 10 months later, although I do know friends who's cycles returned to normal after 6 weeks!

ILoveCwtches · 22/12/2013 21:41

Yes. I had what I thought was lochia, until 11 weeks, but looking back, I think the last week was a period. Had another 6 weeks later and they're now almost back to normal. Dd is 8mo.

I was gutted. Dd has always fed every 2-3hrs and refuses a bottle, too. I thought at least I might get a few extra period free months!
