Lopsided lady!

Oh dear. I just looked in the mirror and realised that my right boob is about half the size of the left. Did some careful thinking about dd's feeding patterns lately and realised that really she's been decidedly unkeen on my right breast for the last two days, probably because she has a stinking cold and for some reason the left boob seems more comfortable for her. In order to prevent back strain and funny crooked walking, should I spend the next couple of days putting her on the right one first whenever she feeds (she's 8 months and down to 3/4 feeds now)? Don't want to spend next 4 months of feeding looking bee-stung on one side and jordanesque on the other

If your DD is finding it more comfortable to feed lying on her right hand side (assuming she's lying across you to feed from your left breast!), have you tried putting her to your right breast in the same position (ie. rugby ball style, under your right arm)? It might help her to regain interest in feeding from your right breast again, then, with a bit of stimulation the supply in that breast should increase . Don't see any harm in putting her to that breast first either.

I had the same problem at one stage and successfully used the under arm position, and I try really hard to remember in which order I last fed in order to swap it around - some people even have a system of attaching a ribbon or pin to your bra strap to help you remember.

At least you are breast feeding, spare a thought for those of us who are built like it naturally!!!

My DS1 only ever fed from one side after I got mastitis (at about 2 weeks) and got so swollen on the right that he couldn't put it in his little mouth....
I carried on feeding him from the left side only for 10 more weeks!

LOL sibble
Have been pushing the right boob and appear to be returning to normal. It always was the smaller of the two anyway, but not by that much!
I've tried to rugby ball position, but dd easily distracted by view of other boob - quite fixated really!
Thanks for posts

this happended to me around 3 months, instead of offering the smaller one.
every feed i let her feed 10 mins on one side then took her off and put her on the other boob for as long as she wanted, which was 7 - 15 mins.

the next feed i started on that boob for 10 mins andthen the other as long as she wanted.

this way it makes sure that at every feed you are guaranteed that one boob is emptied

after a month or so my boobs evened out,

i think mine became lopsided because i fed her alot on my left so i could use my right habd to do things plus the milk came out alot faster that side.
