Getting periods back while bfing!

It took us a long time to get pregnant the first time, and may need some extra help, so we are dying to be able to start trying again...

However I am also keen to keep bfing, ideally extended bfing. Any tips on getting my cycle back on track? Or experience that suggests I might not have long to wait?

Some more detail - nearly 10mo DS is still a total boob monster and a very frequent night feeder, especially as we cosleep. We've tried cutting down on night feeds but he's so hard to resettle without it, and after a looong couple of weeks with 10+ wakings and hours of crying we gave back in.

My HV said that a dramatic change is most likely to start it, so could even swap one feed with a bottle for a few days, but would that affect my supply?

Sorry for the essay and thank you for your help Smile

Sorry no real advice but lack of periods whilst breastfeeding does not mean that you can't conceive. If I were you, I'd just go for it and see what happens. Some women do have periods during bfeeding, others don't. Mine started 8 month pp - I was still bfeeding day and night so didn't have to make any drastic changes for them to start again.

Yup, mine just started as well, didn't make any particular changes. Though I suspect with DS1 it coincided with him ramping up on solids around 9 months, and with DS2 at 5 months when he had a few nights with long stretches of sleep.
