Currently breast feeding DS2 with one bottle of formula. He'll be 5.5 months when we go on a four day road trip type holiday later this month and I want to keep BF indefinitely and hold off on solids until we're back. He's not showings signs of interest anyway.
My questions relate to me not wanting to worry about sterilising bottles and yet not feeling quite confident enough to say we'll go without for that time.
Can I just not sterilise them now he's this age? Advice in New Zealand is only up to three months.
Or, is it too early to just go to a tommy tippee type cup? Of course I could just try it, but do people use them that soon?

I guess I'm just a stickler for the rules. (Unless it comes to dummies which go from gutter to DP's mouth to DS1's.)

Disclaimer... I used to hate 'petty' threads like this when I was suffering with worry and lack of sleep in the early days. Makes me all the more determined to carry on BF throughout the weaning process.

Tommy tippee cups would be good, the sooner you can wean off the bottle the better. As long as you wash and rinse everything thoroughly in hot soapy water you should be fine, I used to rinse with boiling water too as I was a touch neurotic about sterilising.

You can get mini microwave sterilising bags if any help, or just give extra breast feed. That's not much help is it?!!

No it is helpful!
I'll try the cup later tonight. Thanks heaps! DS2 had a bottle until second birthday so I agree... The sooner the better.
