Newborn epic breastfeed!

Anyone up? My 2 day old newborn has been breastfeeding normally about 30 mins at a time but tonight she's been feeding since 11pm and every time she stops and I put her in her basket she's crying and signalling that she wants more. Is this normal? She is doing her usual sleepy feeding of eyes closed and sucking sporadically.

Ah but even if you were ff it wouldn't necessarily be that easy. You wouldn't know how much Lo was getting, unless you measured every vomit. Plus the recommendation is to cue feed just like with bfing, lots of ff babies wake lots too. One report says that by 7 months bfing mothers actually get more sleep Xmas Smile

She actually fell asleep in her cot at 3:45am for 2 hours!!! Granted she was cluster feeding constantly from 10pm but I feel so much better!

It's the one thing I always tell (warn) new mums. There will be a day in the first week where your baby will feed around the clock. Get over that & you're laughing.

Yesterday my little guy (was 10days) fed from 9 am until 11.30pm non stop other than 2 separate one hour naps. Thankfully I didn't have plans to go out! And he slept really well. He's been greedy tonight as well...just wondering if I should go get a flask of tea for the night!

I tried the hamburger squish for the first time and it worked quite well though I've not been able to repeat it since!

I had a good old cry again today due to having to cope with 2 dogs and 2 step kids on top of the new baby but I'm getting there!

Good grief Janie, that makes my 7hr night shift seem tame in comparison!
