DD is nearly 6 months and has the VERY odd ounce of formula but Is almost totally bfed. Last night DP and I went out for dinner with some friends and DC were looked after by DSIL. She got DD to take a couple of ounces of formula and she was asleep when we got in. I co-sleep and DD is no where near sleeping through the night so left her downstairs with DP whilst he watched the boxing. He brought her up when she woke up at 1.30am so I fed from my right side. We both fell asleep. She woke at 3.30 am and I fed from my right side again. Then from about 4.30 she fed from my left side almost constantly until I got up about 7.30 this morning.

My left side is now really sore underneath and was through the night. It hurts all the time but especially painful when feeding. I've got a cabbage leaf in my bra now and that feels a bit soothing but it's still painful and I don't know what to do.

Help please...

Could it be mastitis? Or a blocked duct? And if so, what should I do to relieve it?

Mastitis from not feeding on that side for a while?

I get this. It's usually a blocked duct for me. It has been a milk blister on the nipple to at times.

I take brufen & paracetamol and while feeding on that side I massage from the sore area to the nipple.

Feels like you have been kicked in the boob for a couple of days but the painkillers help make feeding, moving, sleeping more bearable.

Hope you feel better soon x

Thank you Jimjack. I will try massage and painkillers.

It was nearly12 hours that I didn't feed in that side which is by far the longest that I have gone...
