Week old latching for two seconds then pushing off

I'm getting so frustrated, tonight DS is only feeding for two seconds at a time then pushing himself off my boob. He's been feeding like a champion all week, latching fine then just giving up. What's going wrong? I feel like I don't have enough milk for him.

Is his weight gain ok, and is he pooing normally?

Sometimes babies do this as a way of 'asking' to have a change of position to help them burp or just to be more comfortable.

Have you tried biological nurturing positions (google it if you are not sure).

Could your milk let down be too fast for him? So when he comes off is your milk spraying everywhere? If that's happening it might help to express a little off by hand before you try and get him to latch on.

Good thinking, yellowbrick - this is exactly the sort of thing that could kick in a week or so postnatal.

My baby does that when he has wind.

Thanks for the advice, turns out all he needed was a great big poo. Xmas Blush

Ah yes. Give it a few weeks and he won't care about eating while he's pooing :)
