Bottle Set for New Baby

I'm guessing this has been asked a load of times. But my wife and I can't seem to find out which is best, and what we need. My wife is going to breast feed. What starter set is the best to go for?

I think the tommy tipee closer to nature are probably good if you and your wife intend to introduce a bottle, I mix fed and used them and DD never had any confusion. Medela bottles are also good for feeding both ways but I found them very expensive.

Do we need a breast pump as well? I have looked at both the Closer to Nature and the Avent starter sets in Kiddicare. Just wondered which one people preferred.

I'd maybe get a manual pump until you see how breastfeeding goes, the electric ones are very expensive and some women actually don't express much milk (I didn't much to my dismay). I used the tommy tippee manual pump because I used those particular bottles.

If she's going to breastfeed you don't need to buy a massive starter kit. I just had a pack of six bottles, four of which are still in the packet one year on.

Also got the microwave steriliser which came with a small bottle.

These were all tommee tippee closer to nature ones.

I just used the couple of bottles that came in a set with my breast pump (Medela Mini Electric), though I didn't even get that until DS1 was a few weeks old and only then because it was on sale - it's not something a breastfeeding mum usually needs straight away (if at all), and if they do for some medical reason either a)there will be one in hospital or b)you can buy one then, they're pretty widely available. DS1 had bottles so infrequently before I went back to work I didn't need more than two, while DS2 was a bottle refuser and only ever drank milk from a cup. Oh, and I used the Medela microwave sterilizer bags rather than buying a big sterilizer, they're very handy for occasional use.
