confused...am I losing supply?

I hope I don't sounds stupid but I'm a bit confused. My DS is 2months old and I'm breastfeeding on demand. Everything seems to be going fine but I just got AF today... From what I've read, I thought women didn't ovulate/menstruate till after baby started weaning... So, does this mean that my body thinks DS has started weaning and my supply has gone down?? Or do some women continue menstruating while bfing and I'm just one of those lucky women?

Just worried DS won't get enough milk if my body is reducing supply...

TIA

No,with some women it comes back earlier
Nothing to worry about.

thank you moondog... I can relax now, even though I was looking forward to a bigger break AF - guess 9months was my body's limit! Might convince DH to try for a DD

Take it slow though. They're hard work close together!

Plenty of women never get a break even when bfing and you do appear to be one of the "lucky" ones...

It tends to stay away if you BF during the night as well. It's natures way of keeping things fair. My baby wakes up a lot at night but I don't have to worry about buying tampons!

LeahE · 15/07/2006 20:48

Tends to, but doesn't always. I have a friend with four children who's bf all on demand for a year or more and who's never missed a single period except when pregnant. She feels decidedly short-changed in the great lottery of life (but is having #5, so I guess it can't be all bad)

yeah, i night feed as well... very unfair - might be punishment for something I did in a past life, hope I enjoyed it

lol at "nature's way of keeping things fair"!

that must be it.

asur: how annoying for you! still, handy if you fancy another one soon...

Asur · 16/07/2006 15:42

I have to say the most annoying part was that I was not expecting it.. all I had in the house was some massive maternity pads - not the most comfortable thing in this hot weather... Had to make a quick trip to the shop

I got mine back at 12 weeks - only finished my post-natal bleed at 9 weeks, and was still doing some night feeds. Never had a supply problem though.

Twiglett · 16/07/2006 19:11

nothing to worry about

you're just unlucky

milk supply will be fine

Twiglett · 16/07/2006 19:12

might not be back for good though .. I got a light bleed at about 3 months then they went away again till 9 months (even though was still bfeeding)
