I've been told by the HV that I should drop DS's 6am feed to make sure he is hungry at breakfast time "because food is getting more important than milk now and he needs to be having three proper meals a day."
I'm disappointed to hear this as I find it very convenient to feed him at this time; at the end of the 6am feed he will usually go back to sleep for up to an hour, which gives me time to get ready for work or just to catch up on sleep if it's a non work day. However it's true that he doesn't have much appetite for breakfast and usually just gums at a bit of toast or eats a rice cake mid morning. He's gaining weight fine and eats well at lunchtime and dinner.
Is it safe to ignore this advice, or do I need to suck it up and start getting up at 6am to feed him porridge?
