Yep, I sterilised until 12 months, but then I made up 24 hours of milk at a time (yes, tut tut) so it being sterile was really important. Given that DS became mobile at that point and began eating mud, I did wonder why I was bothering, but I think I would still do it if I were you.

I stopped at 9 months, after I caught DS eating soil, complete with a worm.

I think the official advice is still to sterilise bottles and teats until 1 year

I think that the guidelines for sterilising bottles and teats is 12 months. It's because of the milk bacteria in the teat. So different to anything else. First time round I did it until around 11 months en we went on holiday and I didn't bother there! I never sterilised anything other than the bottles/teats.

Running the bottles through the dishwasher is as good but will stain the bottles to a horrible orange colour!

On that note though, could I get away with only sterilising the teats? So on a day out could I take a sterile box of teats to put on the same bottle? Obviously I would wash the bottle...! My baby is 6 months.

I wash everything in the dishwasher then soak just the teats in cold water milton solution when i remember have done since he started on bottles at 6 months .

I thought you should sterilise bottles until you switch to cows milk at 1yrs old?
