Mastitis without lumps? Help

Hi, I had mastitis when my dd was about 6 weeks old and it was horrendous. She is now 8 months and is suffering from a cold. This has made her struggle to bf and she has been biting ALOT (nipples were bleeding yesterday). I woke in the night with a really full and hard right boob and it felt like it had been punched (that's the only way I can describe it). I have fed her from that side and I am pretty sure she emptied it but it is still hot and very sore but no lumps. Can you have mastitis without lumps/blockages? I am not yet feeling feverish but unsure whether to get to the doctors anyway.
Right now I am so over breastfeeding.

oh no, poor you. Mastitis is so dreadful. I had it once and like you I didn't have one particular lump. Instead my whole breast felt as you described and was mottled. I would def get to a gp.

You need to keep the milk moving, I couldn't take the pain of ds feeding so pumped very regularly through the worst 24hrs of mastitis.
I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you nearlyreadytopop. I had best get my retired pump out and get a docs app.
