Generally the increased feeding us a growth spurt. The Kelly mom site gives more info.

That or your little one has a cold and is finding it difficult to feed.

Sounds like a growth spurt to me! Just ride it out, it will last about two or three days. Keep drinking plenty of water, and don't do anything more than needs to be done.

My dd seemed to feed constantly from about 8 to 16 weeks. I watched a lot of TV and severely neglected housework (and dh).

Babies also increase their needs at the breast when in need of emotional and psychological and social connection - you can't always predict when these needs will increase and they may be unrelated to 'calorie needs'. The baby whose needs are responded to is more likely to be less 'needy' when they are a little older (good research on this). They have gained in confidence that the world is a safe place and that they are loved, and that their needs are considered important.

You say you are exhausted, Kay - the phase does not last, and during it, you need to be cared for as well.....and to be able to get rest and sleep when you can.
