New mum looking for some help! My 17wk old DD is EBF but I will be returning to work at 26 weeks, just when I should be starting weaning. I have decided that I don't want to express at work so thinking mixed feeding with formula/solids in the day (when she is at nursery) and BF morning/night would be the best solution. What I am unsure about is:

  1. Should I start weaning before she goes to nursery even if it will be before 6mnths?
  2. Should I move her onto formula in the day before I start weaning? Seems a bit much to start weaning and move to formula all at the same time.
  3. Will my supply allow me to breastfeed morning/night only?

Any advice or people's own experiences would be really helpful, I'm just so confused how to manage this!

  1. solids should really only be an addition to milk, until she's one her main source of nutrients should be either BM or first stage formula, so there is no rush to start her on solids yet.
  1. If you want to switch over to formula in the day you need to work out how many feeds she has in the day, then start switching one feed every 2 weeks. This should give her time to adjust and reduce your risk of mastitis.
  1. I'm sure you'll be fine Smile
