FF advice & help needed

Since day 10 DS has been ff. He is thriving on formula and putting on weight, sleeping etc however he is taking a lot more than the box says he should be and is still feeding 3 hourly with one stretch from 7pm till 1.30am

According to the box he should be taking 5 x 6oz bottles a day for his weight and age. (30oz per day)

He is actually taking 7 x 6 oz bottles and a small 2oz top up before he goes down at 8pm. (38 oz per day)

Not so concerned about how much he's taking but how can I get him to go 4 hours between feeds? He is 7 weeks old

Thanks

The short answer is he'll do it when he's ready.

He's only tiny, he eats when he physically NEEDS to, and he eats how much he needs to.

Babies don't read boxes, and they don't overeat, so what he is eating is what he needs, when he needs it.

You could try hungry baby milk, but that would be for your benefit, not his. He's happy doing what his body is telling him. He will go longer as he gets bigger. Personally I'd go with his needs because he can't get them wrong.

(FWIW my dc never had the amounts stated on the box, all babies are individuals, there is no one size fits all).

It will get better though, promise.

Hey, I completely agree, my daughter is twelve weeks and doesn't drink anywhere near the stated amount on the box,

She doesn't finish all her bottle and I was concerned, but hv assured me every baby is different, as long as baby is gaining weight then you shouldn't be worrying. If you notice all formulas has different advice on how much they should be feeding so take it liberally.
