DS regressing back to breast

My 6mth old DS has just been diagnosed with bronchitis. I had previously BF him with only one evening bottle of formula but over the last 2 weeks made the switch to mainly formula with breast only on a morning and middle of the night feeds. He's going well with the intro onto solids too.

Anyway getting to the point, since he's been unwell he's now refusing his bottles and will only take from the breast and water from his sippy cup. He'll also still eat.

Is this normal? Will he eventually go back to taking his bottles? I've tried putting milk in his sippy and a normal cup and he still refuses this.

Any suggestions or do I go with the flow until he's well again? I never had a supply problem when full time BF but should I look to try and increase my supply given I'd switched to formula?

He am been poorly so totally normal for hi!m tk want the breast :)

If you let him feed whenever he wants your supply will just pick back up again, as you bfed for 6mths your supply will have been well established so it won't take long fro you to meet his demand.

I would just let him bfeed when he wants for now and reassess in a few weeks.

Did you have a particular need for him to be on formula? What would you like to do? :)

Thanks for answering. I thought I wanted to 'get my body back' and he was quite distract able leaving me a bit exposed at times. I also succumbed to those comments and strange looks you get when you're 'still' feeding at 6 months. I'm happy to go back to BF as to be honest I'm finding making bottles and being prepared a total pain.

So chuffed though that when he's poorly I'm able to make him feel that little bit better.

sounds like a win win situation then, you want to
bfeed and get rid of the hastle of bottles and he wants to bfeed as it makes him feel better :)

ignore comments re him being too old to feed, he is a tiny baby still! and yes it can be intense and you feel like you want your body back but in a few mths he will be eating more solids etc and its not quite so full on :)

Thanks 5! He's picked up a bit today. Still prefers breast to bottle so I'm going with the flow and enjoying helping my baby to feel better.

Yep totally normal feed as long as you both want.
