I bf my dd till 9 months when she self weaned

Well she did not want to know anymore

She took to food v well at six months

My ds2 is five weeks old
And I'm thinking about how long I will bf him for

And just wondering what most people do after six months
How many times a day to do bf.

How about say after nine months ?

And twelve months.?

Do most people by the time you get to twelve months only do two bf a day
At that stage
As that sounds fairly easy compared to the v frequent feeding ATM!

I think my dd did self wean but I've read babies do not self wean before the age of, can t remember , but day 12/18 months

My 7mo has between 6 and 7 feeds over 24 hours. She's taking to solids quite slowly though - only on about 1.5 meals a day so far.

13 mo feeds 5 times in 24hrs. Before morning nap at about 9am, before afternoon nap about 1pm/2pm, before bed about 6.30pm and in the night at about midnight/1am and about 5/6am. Thinking about night weaning after Christmas. Massive feed to sleep association but I don't care. It's easy and I'm lazy Grin

Fed my first child until he self weaned around 16 months. From 11 months he had two feeds a day.

My second child is 7.5 months and has around five 5 minute feeds a day.

Dd2 is 8 months and probably has 8 feeds in 24hours I currently offer a lot in the daytime as otherwise she wakes up a bit more. When dd1 was aroud 11 months I cut back her daytime feeds a lot with distraction as she was constantly asking if we were at home - prety much anytime I was near her. Dd2 is less fussed about milk/feeding.

11 months, 3 feeds usually. Was 4 a day, sometimes 5, from 6-10 months.

DS2 is 12 months and feeds 4 times a day (3 on days he's in nursery though he gets a cup of expressed milk), has been pretty much in that pattern since 9 months. Morning, lunchtime, late afternoon, bedtime. Might have an overnight feed, might not. Suspect if his older brother is anything to go by the lunchtime one will go first, then the late afternoon one.

leonardofquirm · 21/11/2013 20:01

19 months.

Morning, naptime (if not at work), when I get in from work, bed time, at least twice a night as he's a crappy sleeper compared to my oldest!

On days off work he will ask for milk more often so might be another afternoon/evening one.

He's just starting to be able to be distracted a bit more by a snack/drink/toy if I'm busy.

mine varied a lot.
ds2 fed loads, at 9 months he was feeding at least every hour day and night!

by a year he was prob having maybe 5/6 feeds a day and one or 2 in the night.

ds3 was less boob-obsessed but tbh it varied from day to day, month to month. he was def feeding more than twice a day at a year old.

MollyMatey · 21/11/2013 20:05

Between 6-9 months probably 6 times a day. Between 9-12 months maybe 4 times. After 12 months two breastfeeds (morning and bedtime) and 2 cups of cow's milk (with/instead of morning and afternoon snacks).

MollyMatey · 21/11/2013 20:06

Actually I still did 1-2 night feeds as well between 6-9 months, but stopped that after 9 months.

My dd is coming up to 8 months. Fed on demand until we weaned at 5ish months and then set a routine. She feeds on waking, 10am, 1 pm, 4pm and 6.45 so 5 times in 24 hours. If she is teething and off colour she doesn't sleep through so I will then feed her in the night if she wakes. I hope to drop the 10 and 4 feed at 9 months.
