Help! 2 1/2 month old refusing bottles of ebm

That's it really! DD used to take a bottle ok in the early weeks then I got lazy and bfding became easier so its been weeks since she has even seen a bottle. Ive got a few events coming up and really need to leave her with OH...getting worried as she is screaming with OH and refusing the bottle, pushing it away and shrieking. Tried all week...tried hungry and not hungry. Tried size 1 and 2 avent teats...help! Surely she is still young enough to re learn bottle feeding? OH getting grumpy with me now and saying I should have given bottle earlier etc..but expressing takes time and I haven't had much as DD quite demanding any tips gratefully received! Im getting desperate

Totally with you on the expressing faff. Lots of breastfed babies I know preferred the latex teats like the ones you get on nuk bottles.

Ps you are not lazy! anything but with a small baby.

I think some men assume expressing is really quick and easy. Or maybe they have all read some literature that leads them to believe this? Not sure.

Anyway, It's very hard to find the time to express, sterilise bottles, wash the pump AND breastfeed, as well as keeping yourself alive, so don't beat yourself up. hopefully there will be more suggestions coming your way soon.

Thanks gunpowder - it's nice to know someone appreciates how I feel re expressing - I'd love to do more but it takes time and now DD won't take it it's so depressing to see the milk being chucked each time

Just looking at nuk bottles - so latex teat then? Assume can use with my avent steriliser?

Yes! They look a bit ugly and brown but I think it feels less plasticy to them if they are used to boobs. Will be fine with your avent steriliser, just may not slot in so neatly.

DD would only take a bottle if I was out of the house completely, it was like she had a spidey sense. From about 5 months DH very occasionally cup fed her with a plastic shot glass which she helped to hold, and definitely preferred.

We have had the same problem, my little girl was taking a bottle then had a few weeks where didnt have one and now wont entertain the idea at all. We are advised to try a doidy cup (my little girl is now 4 1/2 mths) as an alternative to a bottle. It is slanted and has handles. After a lot of spilt milk she will now lap at the milk but not yet taking much from it, but i am hopeful! may be worth a try?

Trying the nuk bottle today - wish me luck! It came with a medium flow teat tho, wondering if will need slow flow?

DD is almost 12 weeks, is it too early to use a sippy cup? If not, any recommendations for what one to get? Thanks!??
