Feeling guilty about stopping breastfeeding

I just stopped feeding DS last week. He is 17 months old and was just down to a very short feed before bed. He had been loosing interest and only feeding for a short while.

I just tried to settle him without feeding and it worked. Very few tears.

Now he has got a cold and nasty cough! It could just be coincidence but I feel bad for stopping, he has only ever had one cold before, and I always put this down to breastfeeding.
Now as soon as I stop he gets ill!

Cruel to be kind here - don't be daft! My dd is ebf, and had had pretty much a constant cold since she arrived 10 months ago. It is just coincidence. It is heart wrenching stopping, if you feel it was the wrong thing to do for you just now, you can go back.

I think it would be harder to stop if I started again, but feel awful.

He was only feeding for a couple of minutes would such a small volume still effect his immunity?

I'm with bunty here chicken. I don't think it's had an effect; more likely that it's coincidence and you're just making yourself feel even worse for stopping. DD1 was ebf and has eczema and allergies, DD2 is ebf and has had plenty of sniffles and sneezes. Your DS has just been lucky so far - he'll be fine . Be kind to yourself

I have a cold as well so feeling sorry for myself.
DS seems much brighter now, it always seems worse at night.
