latching issues

My 1stborn is a week old he was cup fed in hospital as my milk wasn't in and he wouldn't latch, he will grudgingly feed (5-10 mins) with a nipple shield but when i put him near my breast without it he'll have a suck then wave his head around and then stick his hand over my nipple

Any support groups nearby you could get to? I couldn't have done it without them. Full of new mums with exactly this issue. Good luck.

agree you need someone to observe a feed really to help you best, have you got a local group? if you need help finding one pm me your postcode I should be able to help look for one
