Breast feeding and night sweats

For the past few nights I have woken up absolutely soaking in sweat-just my top half. Last night I had to get changed twice during the night.

I am BF my 9 day old baby - are these night sweats related to BF? I don't feel particularly warm! And if its not bad enough leaking milk I'm sweating buckets as well!

Ah I remember this.. It royally did my swede in.

I do think it's all the jumbled hormones..pregnancy and birth is huge in the hormone department.

The night sweats do stop though.. I can't remember how long they last though.

I think just hormone related in general, I had them for weeks even after switching to ff after 5 days. They have now returned with my horrendous first AF after childbirth!

Yup, hormones. I checked with the midwife as I would wake up sopping. Hopefully it'll pass in a fortnight or so. I just used to sleep with a big bath towel under me. Saved me changing sheets, just grab a new towel!

A fortnight!!! Bloody hormones Smile

Yep. I had the same. I slept on a towel with another over the top of me, but under duvet, to avoid so many bedding changes.
Thankfully with dc2 I didn't have leaky boobs so wasn't as bad as dc1, but I'd forgotten about the sweats. Oh, the joys of those early days after birth.
I agree with pinksummer it seemed to trail off after 2 weeks, although I do still get a rather lovely between boob sweat some nights. Nice.

Baby is 7 weeks and I'm still having this so you are not alone! Sweat and stale milk makes a lovely combo don't you think?

RoadToTuapeka · 04/11/2013 01:22

Yes I had this too, actually for months (lovely!), I washed sheets and pillow cases constantly. It will pass...

WifeofGru · 04/11/2013 01:43

Yep, I remember it lasting a while. More than a fortnight.

Poppet45 · 04/11/2013 19:56

In defence of bfing. I think its more of an end of pregnancy thing than bfing thing. I thought it was the body's way of shifting all the fluid you amass while pregnant. That and peeing like a racehorse. Ugh.

I think it's a post childbirth thing not abreast feeding thing. I had it too.
