OPK while breastfeedingand TTC #2

Good morning, I need some help on this topic.

AF still hasn't return as I'm still breastfeeding 10mo DS. But over the past month I have made an effort to cut down on feeds, and since then I've has mild cramping, mucous etc as if AF will return.

We are ttc DC#2 (hence why I cut down on feeds), so I brought only 10 OPK from ebay about 1 month ago, just to test and see if they work, and I never got a faint line, just a control line to say the test had taken place, so I only ever one line on the test. this time I brought a different make called 'one step' from ebay (I forgot which ones I had last time) and I have had what seems like a 'only slightly' fainter line than the control line, I have tested mon, tues, and this morning and each time the line seems very strong.

I will try and upload a photo but has anyone had any luck with these while breastfeeding and no AF? The line seems to strong just to be negative.

Never used the stick things sorry so can't help you there but wondered if you'd read the kellymom information on bfing and fertility?

Hi,
My AF returned after a year and concieved when I night weaned at 2. I would recommend getting a fertility monitor from clear blue. It's expensive but worth it imo. You should probably start Af to start testing tnough.

I never got any kind of useful information from those "blue line" OPKs, but the result of the first time I tried one of the smiley face digital ones (while BF) is currently marauding round the kitchen. They're more expensive but worth a go if you don't fancy shelling out for the monitor yet.

For me it was the night feeds that were the key, once those reduced my Af came back both times.

There is a thread about this on the ttc forum. Wisdom seems to be that without AF you are highly unlikely to ovulate, there is a teeny tiny chance of conceiving if you can catch the first egg that was about to become your first AF.
