MAM bottles - help please!

So, I've finally found a bottle that my Breastfed Dd2 seems to like - the MAM ones with the holes in the base for venting. However I feel a bit clueless about using them in practice - breast feeding is so easy in comparison!

I know about all the advice of making them up as you go along, but then how do you cool them without formula leaking out? And they say to warm them in the microwave which I know is not recommended but I'm fine with for formula, but not for EBM. Any tips?

What do people use bottle bags for - carrying water then tipping powder in? Or carrying chilled milk?

I use the mam bottles. Milk doesn't tend to leak out while cooling / warming. If it does then the bottle hasn't been assembled correctly.
I make up 2/3 feeds at a time and keep them chilled in fridge, so I use a tommee tippee bottle bag for keeping a bottle of formula chilled while we're out until she's ready for a feed when I will get it warmed up. I have also used it to keep a bottle in whic has already been brought up to temperature and I know I need it within the hour.

BTW I warm in a jug of hot water, never use microwave

I used them, they shouldnt leak. The white circular bit at the bottom stops that.

You have to thread them at the bottom 100% correctly or they will leak, best give them a test over the sink before using as its a bit of a knack.

They were the only ones DS1 would take, anything else and he really struggled.

If I made one fresh and wanted to cool it, I would sit in a bowl of cold water.

How many bottles a day are you planning to give, because for out and about cartons are sooooo much easier. If its only going to be an odd bottle here and there I would just take a carton out tbh!

I express into a Mam bottle.

Leave it in fridge.

Warm it before I go out - in a jug of hot water.

Put in the Mam insulated bottle bag.

Use within 2 hours.

I used these bottles when placing it water, the water goes into the bottom but it's between the seal you might be thinking this is leaking if you sort of flick the bottom you can get most of the water out

I used these about 6 years ago. I can remember there was some situation where they used to suck the surrounding water in. I think it may have been when cooling down hot water, if you do that by sticking a hot bottle in a cold jug of water, it sucked some of the cold (non-sterile) water in to the bottle.

They may have fixed that glitch by now, but maybe check and see if that happens. I can't remember any problems with stuff leaking out.

Yeah they do still do that Latin.
