b/f baby refusing bottle

Hello, please can someone help?!! My ten week old baby daughter first sampled expressed milk from a bottle at around 4 wks old. We didnt try her again until 8 wks but then she refused point blank! At ten weeks she still refuses to take a bottle after trying several different teats. Has anyone got any tips or advice on how to encourage her to take bottle feeds as I go back to work soon and it is really starting to worry me!

MAM teat on wide necked bottle

have you tried getting someone else to feed her when you are out of the room?

if that doesn't work then you could try cup feeding. (was the only thing that worked for ds - he never did take a bottle)

Thanks for your replies! Have tried the MAM teat and someone else feeding her whilst I am out of the house but no joy!! Can 10 week old babies use a cup?

DD the same - would not take bottles but has managed a cup. We didn't try as early as 10 weeks but when we did, we went for one where the holes were too big. The best one for her ended up being a tommee tippee freeflow one with ONE hole in the spout.

Hi i have teh same problem as my 4 month old. She did take a bottle a month or so ago (with MAM teats)but refuses to do it again. After speaking to many HV and MW i have began training her on a cup. i tried for ages with a bottle and it isnt true that if you try long enough the baby will eventually take it. my baby went without being fed from morning till night and she was being fed every 2-3 hours and still held out for the breast. i have decided to give her water out of a cup once a day and when i go back to work , when she is 6 months, just BF in the morning and evening as she will be on solids. i will leave milk in a cup but if she doesnt drink it she wont starve!

Also agree with Tictacs mum my daughter wont suck anything unless its the breast so the cup has to free flow, no non spill spout etc. i did buy a Tommee Tippee one and cut the spout out as i like the flick over cap that was attached.

I posted an almost identical post a few weeks ago Tried every bottle under the sun for four weeks then finally she took the Tommy Tippee flexible teat ones (closest things to a breast apparently). I use the fast flow teats as she struggles to suck on the other ones.

She is 18 months old and only ever had the breast so it was a battle getting her to take the bottle but we got there in the end!

Playtex Natural latch latex teat - very soft and breast like - not that Ive actually put it in my mouth but it worked for our bottle refuser!

My 11week old son is exactly the same. We thought we'd got it sussed with mam bottle with the soft teat and he took 4oz two days running before his last feed at night but is now refusing again. I soooo want an evening out but he feeds at 6pm and 8.30 so no chance at the moment. Any other ideas anyone?

I'm having similar problems and haven't yet found a solution but you might want to try the breastbottle available from www.totsmart.co.uk/products/breastbottle.php?opt=products. It's £20 so I haven't tried yet as my dh has banned me from buying any more bottles at the moment! I have tried most of the bottles you can buy in boots without much success but you never know it might work! I also had a bit of sucess (well, she took 1oz) trying to feed her facing outwards whilst moving around. Hard work though! Good Luck!
