Help! My boobs are confused!

So my 10 week old dd has started sleeping through the night (hey don't be jealous, I'm just as surprised as you are). However my boobs do not understand what's happening, and I've been getting really engorged. As a result I've developed mastitis, at least I'm presuming that's why. Will I have to get up to express through the night, or will my boobs adjust? I'd really like to sleep through the night too!

On a side note, she has also started sucking her thumb, and I'm worried I'm missing hunger cues. Anyone else had this?

I had this too, was uncomfortable for quite a few nights until my body adjusted to DDs feeding pattern. From my experience id say don't express any substantial amount as your body Will think you are feeding and so won't reduce supply, although i used to express a small amount if was uncomfortably engorged.
As for the thumb sucking, DD did this from a few weeks old for comfort but if she was hungry would def let you know about it or root when she was being held by anyone. The thumb sucking for her was def a comfort not hunger thing.

I hope that's of some help.
