Possible thrush - please help urgent!

Since yesterday I have had a shooting pain deep in 1 side of 1 of my breasts that starts from the nipple & travels upwards. I'm suspecting thrush as I have no lumps or temperature & feel fine in myself. I've also just finished a course of antibiotics & had a milk blister on the affected side (cracks & wounds increase risk?). So far lo has no symptoms.

I would see my Gp except I'm currently on holiday in Turkey. Most medicines can be purchased over the counter so what do I need to treat me & lo?

Thanks

Not sure on that one sorry. How are things today? Have you read any of the kellymom stuff?

Is Canesten available? There is one in our pharmacy that has an image of a mother and baby on it. Basic Daktarin is also ok for your nipples - put on after every feed and wipe off before the next one.

Something else which could help and should definitely be available is vinegar - again dab on after every feed but give a rinse/wipe off before a feed. Try to keep your diet low in sugar and food containing yeast too.

There is an oral gel you can give babies at the same time as treating yourself that I was prescribed for DS1 (brand was Daktarin) but my thrush went away without it this time for DTs.

Hope it feels better soon.
