Should I wake him?

6-week old DS has been asleep since 12.30, it's now 4.50. He's stirring now actually, but when this happens again should I wake him for a feed or is it ok that he's going a bit longer between night feeds at this age? He'll likely only go 2 or so hours til the next one if recent nights are a guide. He's currently ebf.

I think if his weight gain is good and he is doing lots of wees and poos I would leave him till 7 and enjoy your lie-in! (kind of, you know what I mean) Grin

this page has more info.

Thanks, I didn't think of checking kellymom in my half asleep state! When I said he'll go 2 hours til next feed I meant if he wakes and feeds at around 4.30, he typically wants another feed 2 hours after that - it's like his little body clock goes back to daytime hours, lol. I'd love it if he let me sleep through til 7 though!
He wees and poos like a trooper and has been gaining weight well, so fingers crossed for more nights like this.

If your baby is putting on weight nicely and is healthy then don't whatever you do wake him up!

Enjoy the knowledge that he can sleep that long and try not to expect it everynight.

It's the beginnings of his body clock changing to day and night Grin

What time did he wake Noisy?

NoisyBrain · 15/10/2013 18:57

He woke a few minutes after I posted Smile. I put him back down asleep at around 6 after feed & wind with a nappy change somewhere in the middle, then he woke for the day just under two hours later.

Hope you get a stint of sleep again tonight Smile

Passmethecrisps · 15/10/2013 19:10

Brilliant!

My wee one started to sleep for 5 hours then 8 hours a stretch at 4 weeks bizarrely. She had been getting hospital treatment for food refusal and even the consultant there said that by 4 weeks if she was sleeping soundly she couldn't have been hungry. I was really concerned initially but I soon got over that!

Fingers crossed for the same tonight

Saved me posting similar question, thanks!
My dd is almost 8wks, weight gain is good, perfectly healthy, formula fed every 2.5 - 3hrs in the day, typically goes 5-6hrs at night but has gone 8hrs. Is this ok or is it too early to be sleeping through?

Passmethecrisps · 15/10/2013 19:56

Sounds like my wee one purple. Ate loads during the day but went hours at night. I would reckon it's ok.

10wo ds. He started sleeping for longer stints 2 weeks ago, then went back to 2-3 hourly feeds at night and now is going for 5-6 hours again.
I've found he'll sleep longer if he's warmer. If he's too warm he'll just sleep and sleep. So I need to be careful not to overheat him. Keep the room around 20degees at night and not too over dress during the day.
