I don't really need help (just a way of grabbing attention) but just was wondering. Although this is my fifth baby he's my first DS and, whilst all his sisters were exclusively breastfed until about five/six months he really stands out from them in that he is absolutely besotted by my boobs. He will happily stay on there for hours, and I do mean hours. I remember posting even before my milk came in because my nipples were blistered and bleeding with the effects of his suck, and the consenus seemed to be my latch was wrong. I said at the time that I didn't think it was, he just has a suck like a sink plunger. One my milk came in that problem disappeared.

Am rambling a bit now, but has anyone else had a similar marathon feeder?

One of my ds's is also like this, he always loved breastfeeding, and now at 20 months, still would take forever if i let him. Now I do have to tell him "All gone". Funnily enough he is the same with solid food, he eats really slowly but great enjoyment

interesting point. MY DS is 8 weeks old. I think he would be happiest if we just layed on the bed all day with him attached to my boob so he could feed and doze as and when he fel like it.

Yep. DS was a complete addict until about 9 months & the world became too interesting to feed. At one stage I was concerned about self-weaning! Didn't last long. Now he's 12mo, he's a more controlled addict. I suspect that 'never offer, never refuse' is not going to work for him!

Hello - new to this but my baby is a MAD feeder... he feeds, falls asleep on my lap on the feeding pillow, then wakes up after about 20 minues for more... it would carry on all day if I didnt hand him to dad! His feeding has calmed down (he is now 3 1/2 months) but he is definatly not sleeping through or even going 2/3 hours between feeds!

allyco - my ds4 loves to bf. He had a stong suck & lansinoh cream sorted out sore nipples in the first two weeks.

cori - how lovely
