Day 9 and weight gain has gone backwards

That's it really DS is 9 days old and had lost weight initially then by day 7 he had put on 2 oz and today his weight is down the 2oz to weight he was when we left hospital.

Mw has advised me to feed then top up with expressed milk which in theory is great. However I have 2 other DC so feel guilty sitting feeding then expressing and ignoring them.

Also my boobs don't feel full before his next feed.

Is there a way to get him to eat more or boost my supply? So confused and very tired

Hi, I'm not an expert by any means but 2oz is not much at all - it might just be that he'd done a big wee before he got weighed on day 9 and he hadn't before he got weighed on day 7! To be back at birth weight by day 9 is good, I think the normal timeframe for babies to be back at birth weight is 10-14 days so I wouldn't be too concerned. How much did he weigh when he was born? You have two other dc so I would trust your instincts! Just remember that the more he feeds the more milk you will produce, I'm sure he'll let you know when he's hungry! With regards to your boobs not being full I wouldn't worry too much, I'm currently breastfeeding my second dd and my boobs hardly feel full at all and she's massive so I don't think boob 'fullness feel' is a great indicator!

As I said I'm not an expert but on all honesty I wouldn't be too worried!
