Sleeping through night and engorged boobs...

12 week old ds has just slept 9-7 for 3rd night in a row which I am obviously thrilled about (although doubt it will last).

However I am waking myself up around 4/5/6 because my boobs are so engorged and painful. On the off chance he keeps this up will they adjust? How does it work?

They will adjust. Boobs are marvellous things! Might take a few days and you might leak and feel uncomfortable though. You could try expressing just a little to ease the fullness. My dd has slept through these past 2 nights and when she wakes at 6 my boobs are rock hard!

Don't worry, your supply will adjust but it may take a few days. Laying on your back will help with the pain.

Thanks although prefer engorged boobs to night waking so hope I haven't jinxed myself!

Yep they will sort themselves out, mine were so painful the first few times DD slept though but it only lasted about a week or so. Now they are full in the morning but not uncomfortable. Its great cos I tend to express first thing and can get a bottle full in no time!

I'm so jealous! I'm desperate for a full night's sleep, my dd is 12 weeks today! Out of interest Gurraun, what is your baby's feeding and sleeping pattern during the day? My dd sleeps about 4-5 hours in the day (she can't awake for more than 1hr 15mins without being totally miserable!) and has about 5 full feeds I'd say (I'm breastfeeding also). I do the last breastfeed at about 6pm and then a dream feed at 11pm when she only takes about 2-4oz if we're lucky, she's taken 5oz on occasions but that's rare. She then usually wakes around 2.30/3pm for a breastfeed and then awake again at 6ish.

Enjoy your sleep - can't wait to get some!
