Hi all

DD was born on Friday. We have just got home from the hospital. I have been told to feed from both boobs and then top up with 30ml formula until my milk comes at least every 3 hours as she had some problems with low blood sugar (I had gestational diabetes).

She is okay with the right boob but not keen on the left - I have a larger flatter nipple on that side. Any advice? I fed DS for a year but didn't have this issue.

When my milk comes in, I can express (my machine makes my nipples very pointy) but before then, I'm getting uncomfortable trying to get her to feed from both sides.

This might not help but when my LO preferred one side it was because i wasn't positioning her correctly on my weaker side (left - i am right handed) so she was straining her neck to feed.

I have to work really hard to make sure that I keep her in a good position on that side, even now at 8 weeks.

Do you have a difference in let down speed on one side? If so, check the Kelly mom website for info on uneven supply, block feeding etc.

Good luck. And congrats on your new DD!
