recommended electric breast pump???

Hi
I have a 6 day old girl who I am breast feeding. I am trying to put her on me to feed as much as possible but for a break, I would like to express into a bottle so my husband can feed for him to bond or if we go out.

I have tried a manual pump which is not very good (tommy tippee) and have ended up manually expressing but cannot get a full feed out.

can anybody recommend an electric reasonably priced breast pump??

Thanks in advance

I had the medela swing which was great and came highly recommended. It's straightforward to clean and assemble.

However I found expressing was lots of work for not much milk, particularly when I factored in sterilising, washing bottles etc.

In the end it was much quicker and easier just to feed. (DH took over bathtime to bond instead.) You may have a completely different experience, just wanted to let you know it isn't always as effortless as some of the books make out!

Congratulations on your baby Flowers

I use the Medela Swing and think it's very good. I get a good yield of milk and find it's quick to clean and easy to operate.

I second that in the early days it's a faff to express only to have someone else feed when it's quicker just to put baby to breast. That being said, I do wish I'd done it anyway. We postponed giving baby bottle of expressed breast milk as we had bf issues due to tongue tie that weren't properly resolved until about 4 months. As a result baby never took a bottle and it's really tied me to things like bedtimes, etc.

Medela swing was brill for me Smile

I'm no expert but you may want to wait a little longer- just whilst your baby gets used to feeding and until your supply is better adjusted. I was advised to introduce a bottle from 3-4 weeks so that baby had time to get used to the breast. My friend has lent me a tomee tippee pump and it's quite good. It's like having a boob massage!!

I have a medela swing after using medela pumps in hospital. It's really great, very easy to use,

i can't get more than an ounce out with electric pumps (medela and spectra 3), can get 3 at a push from Avent manual and abut the sane hand expressing.

Not everything quirks fur everyone so start with the cheapest and work up i reckon

I had a Spectra 3, which I found really good, and is cheaper than the Medela.
