Dizzy after bf???

Just wondered if anyone else has this experience: After DS (5 mths) has a long feed (30m-1hr) I feel so utterly drained and exhausted to the extent of feeling dizzy, lightheaded and a bit weak. I think I'm eating enough but perhaps not? Should I expect this as part and parcel of bf'ing?

Are you drinking enough? I had to neck at least a pint of water with every feed or I'd have the same problem.

I haven't had this but it sounds like low blood glucose to me. Suggest you have something like orange juice or a biscuit to hand and eat while feeding.

I suspect simple dehydration and low blood sugar. Some people need to eat a LOT more when BFing and nearly everyone needs to drink more. Just form a habit of getting a pint glass of water and a crumpet / muffin / piece of toast whatever before each feed.

aah come to think of it I haven't been drinking as much recently and last week when I used a white loo when out (ours is a throwback to the 70's-- avocado green!!!!!) I did notice my wee was very dark. Sorry for the detail but it makes sense now!

Thanks everyone for your help. I will drink a lot more. If it is dehydration it's clearly affected my thought process too because I should have been able to work this one out for myself!!
